As the maker's most affordable model, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a
classically designed five-passenger luxury sports sedan. With powerful engine
options, an elegant interior, and three different trims to choose from, the
C-Class simply overpowers the Infiniti G37 and other competition. Buyers will
find that the asking price is surprisingly affordable, and the sports sedan's
fuel economy is impressive. Unfortunately, some of the luxury features expected
to be included in the standard model are considered upgrades. However, buyers
will see that the 2009 C-Class is well worth the money. Consumers will also be
pleased that the C-Class can be customized with several packages and
accessories.
Inside, this 2009 Mercedes-Benz comes standard with sleek aluminum trim,
rain-sensing windshield wipers, and dual-zone automatic climate control. This
climate control feature allows the driver and front passenger to independently
decide their preferential temperature level. Buyers can upgrade to premium
leather upholstery in several different textures, and a panoramic roof can be
added as well. One of the most innovative features in the C-Class is the rear
power sunshade. This sunshade automatically rises with the touch of a button,
protecting both passengers and the interior from the sun's harmful rays as well
as keeping the interior temperature cool and comfortable. Also, eight-way power
front seats make the ride even more pleasant.
Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class can be fitted with one of three
powerful engine options: 228 horsepower 3.0L DOHC V6, 268 horsepower 3.5L V6, or
a generous 451 horsepower 6.2L V8 (on the C63 AMG Sport Sedan trim). Buyers can
expect a dramatic decrease in fuel economy with the V8 engine selection though,
while the others get around 18 city MPG and 26 highway MPG. A six-speed manual
transmission is standard on the smaller engines, but buyers can upgrade to a
seven-speed automatic if desired. Also, the 2009 C-Class can't be counted out
when it comes to speed with a swift finish from 0- 60 mph in just over seven
seconds. Independent front and rear suspension provides the model with an
overall smoother ride and easier handling, while an Electronic Stability Program
keeps the sedan on its intended course.
Three packages are available as add-ons to the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class like
the Premium 2 Package. This includes features like Bi-Xenon headlamps for
improved visibility, Active Curve Illumination that turns the headlamps in the
direction of a turn, and heated headlamp washers to help during those harsh
winter months. Buyers can get a premium navigation unit with the Multimedia
Package, as well as surround sound and a DVD changer.
On the whole, the 2009 Mercedes-Benz C-Class stands alone for its sheer
capabilities. As an intro to the brand, the C-Class does a good job of giving
buyers a taste of what to expect from the maker. Priced around $32,900, this
sedan is also affordable for many that never thought they could get a luxury
model. However, those that want all the bells and whistles will have to upgrade
to a more expensive model from the manufacturer.
