The 2008 Mercedes Benz S-Class is one of the finest luxury sedans available
today. With the performance and handling of a smaller sports car, all wheel
drive availability, the mouth watering acceleration of the AMG model and its
extremely visually appealing design, the flagship S-Class is definitely worthy
of consideration by those in the market for a luxury sedan. The only new feature
for the 2008 model year is the addition of satellite radio.
With 5 trims available, there is an S-Class to suit just about every
discriminating driver. The base model S550 comes standard with 18 inch wheels,
an air spring suspension system, bi-xenon headlights, adjustable front seats,
delicately integrated leather and wood interior trim and the Mercedes COMAND all
in one interface with includes a navigation system and a Harman Kardon audio
system with 6 CD changer. The S550 4 Matic has identical standard equipment with
the exception of the chassis modification required for its all wheel drive
system. The S63 AMG features a larger, V8 engine as well as 20 inch AMG specific
wheels, an adaptive suspension, larger brakes and appealing eye candy that
includes AMG exterior styling cues and an interior featuring sport bolstered
seats and aluminum interior trim.
Consider adding air circulating front seats with accupressure, a keyless entry
and start system, and heads up night vision display. An AMG wheel and body kit
can be added to the S550, in addition to temperature-controlled power adjustable
seats and 4X climate control.
The rear wheel drive S550 is equipped with a 5.5-liter V8 mated to a 7 speed
automatic transmission that produces 382 horsepower that easily goes from 0-60
in just over 6 seconds. The S550 4Matic has the same engine but routes power to
all 4 wheels in order to make this luxury sedan capable of handling most
inclement road conditions. The S63 AMG comes with a 518 horsepower, 6.2 liter V8
engine that is also paired with a 7 speed automatic transmission - but this one
is recalibrated for firmer and faster shifting capability. The souped up S600
features a twin turbo 5.5 liter V12 engine which delivers an amazing 510
horsepower, while the S65 AMG is equipped with an even more potent 6.0 liter V12
that delivers an astonishing 604 horsepower that completes the 0-60 test in just
over 4 seconds. Both of these high powered engines come standard with a 5 speed
automatic that is more than capable of handling its V12 torque.
The 2008 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is uber-techno, with precision engineering,
pioneering technologies and an interior that is exceptionally accommodating and
plush. If you are in the market for a luxury sedan that has and does just about
everything, the S-Class will deliver.
