2008 Honda Element, similar to the 2007 model, is basically a small SUV
that is well-known for its unique model shape, reliable performance parts, and
its configurable interior. Under the hood of a 2008 Element lies a 166 hp
2.4-liter i-VTEC engine with an aluminum-alloy block and head. It's available in
both manual and automatic transmission and it is a 5-speed, in-line 4-cylinder.
Element has new 18-inch alloy wheels, projector beam headlights, sport
suspension, and a lowered ride height. It also has a removable skylight for
various uses such as standing up (which is advised against while driving),
letting sun in and, of course, fresh air.
For comfort and relaxation, it offers the driver and front passenger easily
adjustable seats that recline and are able to be removed for more space or to
allow for other, more comfortable positions. Also with water-resistant seats and
scratch resistant floors, almost any type of a mess will be easy to clean up.
How safe is the 2008 Honda Element? The structure of the vehicle itself was
designed with a rigid Unit-Body Construction to reduce intrusion in case of an
impact. In addition, the Element has Side-Impact Door Beams in the front and
back. It has protection when a driver over-corrects, for which the Vehicle
Stability Assist would automatically adjust the brake pressure on the wheels and
reduce engine power. It also has 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes and braking
assist to ensure an immediate stop when needed, along with Electronic Brake
Distribution, to make sure that the power of the brakes is distributed evenly
among each tire.
The 2008 Element also safely alerts the driver when one of the tires starts to
get low with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. In the event where getting
into a car accident seems to be unavoidable, due to certain circumstances or any
other specific situations beyond human control, the 2008 Honda Element contains
dual-threshold front air bags, side curtain air bags and an Occupant Position
Detection System.
The base model starts at around $19,000, the LX model begins around $19,575 and
the EX 4WD model costs around $23,875. Although it ranks well within affordable
vehicle guidelines, the 2008 Scion xB 5-Door Wagon has a much sweeter price, at
about $3500 less, offers similar features and retains more of its value for a
longer period of time.
Changes to the 2008 Honda Element include enhanced safety features; more
interior and exterior refinements; and improved ride and handling. The new
Element should satisfy anyone in the market for an affordable and practical
vehicle.
