The 2009 GMC Sierra 3500HD Dually 4WD is the sister truck to the Chevy
Silverado. Although they are almost identical mechanically, the Sierra has a bit
more to offer in the area of style and luxury. This theme is evident inside and
out. As with most trucks today, the GMC Sierra is available in a number of
different configurations, starting with the Work Truck, SLE, and SLT trims.
While the 1500 and 2500 are available in a number of different bed and cab
configurations, the 3500 dually is available in only the long bed.
It doesn't take long to realize you are not looking at a Silverado when you view
the exterior of the Sierra 3500. Sierra has more flowing lines that gives it an
upscale appearance compared to the boxier Silverado. Also, the grille openings
are more pronounced and the headlamps are different than the 1500.
When you look under the hood, you'll find one of two available V8 engines. The
first is a 360 horsepower 6.0 liter with a six speed Hydra-Matic automatic
transmission, and the other being a 365 horsepower 6.6 liter diesel coupled with
a six speed Allison automatic.
When you climb inside the GMC Sierra 3500, you'll notice that much of the
interior design cues have been taken from the 1500 line. The Work Truck and SLE
trims are more practical in their design, geared more toward work applications.
They include more storage compartments, including a double glove box, and
armrest storage compartments, as well as a lockable storage bin under the center
seat. The SLT model offers a more luxurious feel in the cockpit. The design is
more inviting and comfortable than the other trims. The 2009 Sierra also offers
a handful of new technological upgrades, such as OnStar Turn by Turn Navigation,
Bluetooth, and rear view cameras. These trucks also come equipped with stability
control systems and other safety features, such as anti-lock brakes and front
air bags. Normally, in a vehicle of this size, not as much attention is given to
safety issues. This isn't quite as important as it would be in a smaller car.
The 2009 GMC Sierra 3500HD 4WD is a rugged truck for on the road or on the work
site. You get all of the trusted durability and performance the Chevy Silverado
is known for, but you also get a touch of class and style that you can only find
in the GMC. This truck starts at a fairly reasonable price of around $25,000.
