The 2009 Ford F350 Super Duty Dually 4WD is the hoss. One full ton of dual real
wheel four-wheel drive truck, you can only get this baby made in America. When
most men think truck, this is what comes to mind. Given a new look for 2008;
it's essentially the same for 2009.
The Dually 4WD comes with a choice of three engines -- a 5.4 liter 300
horsepower gasoline V8 (standard on all but the Crew Cabs, on which they are not
available), a 6.4 liter, 350 horsepower Power Stroke diesel V8 with 650 pound
feet of torque (standard on the Crew Cabs) and a 6.8 liter 362 horsepower
gasoline V10. Top towing capacity is 18,700 pounds and top payload weight is
5430 pounds.
Payload and tow weight are significantly above the average for heavy duty
pickups. The F-350 Super Duty Dually 4WD is also wider than most of its class
and has a higher maximum gross weight, which is good for towing, among other
things. Turning diameter on the Crew Cab Long Beds is slightly larger than
average, but about the only real weakness is the power train warranty, which is
only about two-thirds of the class average.
Regardless of the engine you choose, you can get either a five-speed automatic
or a six-speed manual transmission, either with overdrive. The manual is
standard on all trims.
There are three trims for the 350 Super Duty 4WD. In ascending order, they are
XL, XLT and Lariat. You can get each, except the Lariat, in a standard Cab, or a
SuperCab or Crew Cab Long Bed. Lariat is available in SuperCab and Crew Cab Long
Bed only. You can also get the King Ranch, Harley Davidson and Cabela packages.
The Cabela package is new for this year and shows up inside and out. There are
five exterior colors, all two-tone with lower body accents. Colors are Ebony,
Forest Green Metallic, Oxford White, Silver Metallic and Royal Red Metallic and
the accent is Sterling Gray Metallic. The exterior also includes running boards,
custom mud flaps, wheel lip moldings and Cabela badges.
Inside you can get cloth or leather seats, either with the Cabela logo. The
floor mats also have the Cabela logo.
The big pickups aren't required to provide either fuel efficiency or crash test
numbers. But it's pretty simple to figure out. Poor fuel efficiency and great
safety.
Another bonus of the 2009 Ford F-350 Super Duty Dually 4WD pickup truck is the
price. They don't come cheap, they couldn't given the work they are built to do.
But at a base price of $29,640 they are well below class average. And this is
one time below average is a good thing. |
