The 2009 Dodge Durango is an eight-passenger SUV that is available in three
different trim levels. As a carryover from the prior model year, the Durango
maintains the same rugged versatility and technologically advanced interior.
Buyers can pick from either a 2WD or 4WD version depending on their unique
driving needs, and the Dodge Durango's fuel economy surpasses the majority of
the competition. A number of drivetrain options are available so consumers can
put their personal touch on the model. The 2009 Durango's affordable intro MSRP
beats both the Chevrolet Tahoe and Ford Expedition.
Under the hood, the Durango can be fitted with either a 210 horsepower 3.7L V6
engine or a 303 horsepower 4.7L Corsair V8 engine. The V6 selection comes with a
standard four-speed automatic transmission, while the V8 gets a five-speed
automatic that keeps the model in a lower rpm at higher speeds. The five-speed
can help the Durango save on fuel as well. And, with 14 city MPG and 20 highway
MPG, this Dodge is one of the most fuel efficient in its class. For the 2009
model year, a hybrid version of the Durango will be available as well. This
model is equipped with a powerful HEMI engine that gets 19 city MPG and 20
highway MPG. A 5.7L HEMI V8 with cylinder displacement is available as an
upgrade too. This model will shut off unnecessary cylinders at cruising speeds
to conserve fuel.
Inside, the 2009 Durango is packed with bonus features. Remote keyless entry, a
theft deterrent system, auxiliary power outlets, and a tire pressure monitoring
system are all standard. Rear Park Assist and a Rearview Backup Camera can be
added for an additional fee. The assist program quickly sounds an alert when the
vehicle gets within a certain number of feet from an object, while the camera
allows drivers to view the space behind the rear of the vehicle through an
in-dash LCD screen. An auto-dimming rearview mirror is also available which will
instantly darken the glass so that the driver's vision is not interrupted with a
glare. Power windows and locks are standard, and the Durango can be fitted with
heated front seats as well.
With an intro MSRP of $27,630 the 2009 Dodge Durango is one of the most
affordable eight-passenger SUVs on the market. While the model comes standard
with basic features, the Durango has a number of advanced amenities available
for additional fees. With impressive fuel economy and generous powertrain
options, the 2009 Durango is a good pick for families on a budget. Also, the
Durango Hybrid that will be offered for the 2009 model year is an excellent
choice for those that need a spacious model but want to make less of an impact
on the environment.
