The 2008 Dodge Durango, a full-size SUV, is being marketed with the
slogan, "Up for any challenge." For the SUV buyer who wants an attractive
vehicle with seating for between 5 and 8 passengers and loads of room to haul
stuff around, the Durango is certainly worth considering.
Dodge's 2008 version has a MSRP of $27,675 and for that price, you can get a
ride with a 3.7 liter V6 engine, or you can choose to go with the 5.7 liter HEMI
V8 engine. If you choose the larger engine, it means that the Durango is capable
of hauling almost 9,000 lbs. This feature will appeal to buyers looking at this
model for a working vehicle as well as something to take them from Point A to
Point B every day. Alternatives to the Durango, like the Ford Explorer may not
offer all the features and towing capacity many people are looking for in their
full-size SUV.
Despite its rugged appearance, the 2008 version gives occupants a very smooth
ride. Driving this SUV means you have the option of getting heated seats, and
specifying whether you want bucket seats in the second row. You likely don't
have to worry about getting lost since the 2008 Durango comes with a GPS
navigation system.
In terms of fuel economy, drivers will get an estimated 13 mpg in the city and
17 mpg on the open road. This model has a 5-star crash rating, and all models
are outfitted with frontal airbags. Side cushion airbags are standard features
for the first and second row on all models. Rear child safety locks are also
standard on all models, and some models come with a content anti-theft deterrent
system.
These vehicles are similar in price, but the Durango does give drivers the best
gas mileage of all of them. In addition, the Dodge vehicle has a 5-speed
automatic transmission with overdrive. Manufacturer's warranties on all these
vehicles are identical at 36 months or 36,000 miles.
A number of different trim styles are available, ranging from the SXT, Four Door
4x4 to the Limited Four Door 4x4. The SXT weighs in at 4,932 lbs and the Limited
is the heaviest model at 5,106 lbs. A vehicle of this size and weight won't be
cheap to fill up at the pumps, but if you have the coin to buy a 2008 Dodge
Durango, trying to come up with the money to keep it gassed up shouldn't be a
big concern.
