The 2005 automotive model year brought about the introduction of the Chevrolet
Cobalt, a compact car that effectively replaced the Cavalier. Manufactured by
General Motors in its Lordstown Ohio plant, this fuel efficient compact car is
indeed still made in America. Unlike the Aveo - a fuel efficient sub-compact car
manufactured overseas for exportation to the United States.
A relatively simple yet eye catching design with understated curves and a low,
low sticker price, the Cobalt was immediately widely appreciated by those who
had been seeking an inexpensive small car from Chevrolet that could compete with
the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was equipped with premium
features such as heated leather seats and the OnStar navigation system, making
the Cobalt very appealing to those who wanted more of a premium model compact
car than the sub-compact Aveo. The car was originally offered as either a sporty
two door coupe or a four door sedan and has basically remained cosmetically
unchanged from the time of its introduction.
The 2008 Cobalt LS and LT models are equipped with a 2.2 liter DOHC Ecotec
engine that provides more horsepower than comparable cars offered by Toyota and
Honda. The 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt Sport features a high output 2.4 liter Ecotec
engine in addition to 17 inch polished aluminum wheels, rear spoiler, body color
rocker moldings, fog lamps, leather wrapped steering wheel and a seven speaker
Pioneer sound system.
The low sticker price of this model might enable you to afford a few of the many
options and accessories that Chevrolet has available for the Cobalt like a cat
back exhaust system with polished stainless steel exhaust tip or shifter trim
kit.
Although fuel efficiency is the major appeal of the Chevrolet Cobalt, it is an
aesthetically pleasing vehicle with more than adequate safety and security
features. In addition to the OnStar navigation system, the 2008 rendering also
includes airbags, remote keyless entry and an electronic stability control
system. |
