The classic sports car has returned for another year of impressive power,

two main styles - coupe and convertible - remain mostly the same as the prior
year's model. However, the latest addition, the ZR1, is where the transformation
begins. With an all-new exterior design, the Corvette ZR1 has a chiseled body,

Under the hood of both the coupe and convertible is a 6.2L LS3 aluminum-block V8
that can produce up to 430 horsepower. However, the 2009 Corvette ZR1 blows away
the base models. With a supercharged 6.2L V8, the ZR1 powers out at a whopping
638 horsepower, with few roadsters other than the Mercedes SL Class able to keep
up. This trim level also features a 6-speed manual transmission for quicker
acceleration and enhanced driver control. The coupe and convertible also offer a
6-speed paddle shifting automatic transmission. This advanced transmission gives
drivers the control of a manual combined with the ease of an automatic.
One of the most innovative features of the Corvette ZR1 is the utilization of
carbon fiber. This lightweight material allows the two-seater sports car to
reach high speeds faster. Carbon fiber is employed in the hood, roof, and front
fascia. With high-performance suspension and tuning, the 2009 Corvette is
unmatched among other American sports cars.
While most classic sports car buyers are not overly concerned about fuel
economy, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette comes in at a pretty moderate rating. With
16 city MPG and 26 highway MPG makes it a little easier to drive it just for
fun. Of course, the supercharged ZR1 ranks a bit lower with 14 city MPG and 20
highway MPG.

at around $47,045, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette caters to the enthusiast. The ZR1

buyers beware; the ZR1 gets an additional tax added on by the government for
excessive fuel consumption. Of course, that's probably not enough to put off any
true Corvette devotee.
