The 2009 Cadillac STS is a luxury full-size sedan, comparable to the Mercedes
CLS Class, that includes generous power, a wealth of options, and a number of
safety features. This model is a carryover from the previous year. With five
trim levels, buyers can customize the STS to fit their specific needs. This
five-passenger vehicle comes equipped with OnStar as well, a safety program that
includes immediate accident alerts, roadside assistance, and even turn-by-turn
navigation provided by a live company representative.
The Cadillac STS's base model is fitted with a 302 horsepower 3.6L V6, while the
Premium Luxury Performance trim includes an impressive 320 horsepower 4.6L V8.
Standard on all trims is a Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission with
Driver Shift Control. This feature allows drivers to have the convenience and
ease of an automatic with the performance and control of a manual. Nevertheless,
potential buyers might be disappointed that only one transmission is available
on the STS. With an estimated 17 city MPG and 26 highway MPG, the Cadillac STS
is in the middle of the pack. However, those that are looking for exceptional
fuel economy in a luxury sedan might want to look elsewhere.
Standard features include 17-inch aluminum wheels, a remote start system,
premium Bose sound system, and ultrasonic rear parking assist. The rear parking
assist program provides drivers with alerts if an object is blocking their
reverse driving path. This can come in handy as the view from the rear window is
slightly elevated, making it sometimes difficult to see what is behind the
vehicle.
The STS-V is Cadillac's high performance version of the model with a healthy 469
horsepower 4.4L Northstar V8 engine. Performance-tuned suspension and
high-performance disc brakes are featured on the STS-V as well. But, buyers can
expect a base MSRP of $80,690.
The 2009 Cadillac STS is impressive both in exterior design and interior luxury.
The base trim begins at $44,550 for which a mature buyer would appreciate the
STS's features, while the younger consumer will be awed by its exceptional
power. Families searching for a safe luxury model would do well with the STS
base trim, while those in search of exceptional sedan performance will find a
match in the STS-V. Also, the kids will love the optional headrest DVD players. |
