The Audi S6 was introduced in 1994 as a faster version of the A6. The S6 when
introduced was almost the same as the S4 which was going out of production. The
only change was that the S6 was a new name and it had a new body. The company
wanted a sports model in the cars it was selling so it made a few changes in the
S4 and began selling it as the S6. The new S6 had a 2.2 liter five cylinder
engine, which could achieve 100 kilometers per hour in 6.1 seconds. The vehicle
was equipped with a 6 speed manual gears and the Quattro all-wheel drive. The S6
engine was now upgraded to a new V8 engine and the vehicle had an automatic gear
system, though optional was the 6 speed manual gear system. In 1997, Audi
brought in the S6 plus, which had a 32 valve V8 engine.
Audi introduced the second series of the S6 in 1999, which had a 4.2 liter V8
engine. The vehicle had a Quattro all-wheel drive and one could choose between a
six speed manual and a 5 speed Tectonic gear system. The S6 had an aluminum body
17 inch cast alloy tires. In the year 2000 Audi upgraded the S6 engine to the
4.2 liters V8 engine. Audi stopped production of the 1999/2000 S6 in 2003.
In 2006 the third version of the S6 came into the market. The new S6 is now
powered by a 5.2 liter V10. The car has been equipped with the Quattro All-wheel
drive. The car has leather seats, a stereo which has both AM and FM channels as
well as CD and MP3 formats. The Driver has got a seat that can be adjusted in 12
different ways, the seats in the back that are foldable and the vehicle has 16
inch alloy tires. The Audi S6 has been given a very sporty look and to reduce
the weight of the vehicle some of its body parts are made up of aluminum. Seats
in the S6 are comfortable and there is plenty of room for storing shoes or
sports equipment. |
