Offered in two standard trim levels as well as a high-performance S-model (the S
replaces the sport package), the 2007 Audi A3 brings together style and sport in
the form of a five-door hatchback. The base model comes with a 200 horsepower
four-cylinder engine with a fully electronic engine management system, as well
as a six-speed manual transmission. The base model - as all the four-cylinder
A3s do - comes with front-wheel drive, but there is a 250 hp V-6 model that
comes with all-wheel drive standard.
Originally introduced for the 2006 model year, the 2007 A3 isn't all that
different from its immediate predecessor. On the S-line cars, the body has been
altered for a more aggressive appearance, and the cars now carry S-line badges,
while on the others there has been some tapering at the grille. Most of the
changes are inside the car, where there are upgraded audio options, though
special xenon headlights are available also.
Other interior improvements for the 2007 model-year include the addition of rain
sensors and Bluetooth cell phone connectivity to the technology package,
satellite radio, and a six-disc CD player. As well, there are larger read-out
dials, and an option for a sectional sun-roof that comes with blinds.
As with all Audis, the A3s come with a full appointment of safety features,
including an array of airbags. The driver and front-seat passenger are protected
from front- and side-impact crashes, including head restraints. Side-curtain
airbags for the rear seat are not standard, but are available as an upgrade. |
